As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of alternative care for children, a delegation from the Guidance and Training Center for the Child and Family- Bethlehem visited the friends Society of The Islamic Orphanage-Zahra Home for orphaned girls Al-Ezareyeh on Monday, March 10, 2025. This visit was conducted within the framework of the Kindermissionswerk project, in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development. The primary objective of the visit was to assess the services provided to children and develop more precise mechanisms for measuring their psychological, social, and educational needs. This approach aims to ensure that the care offered aligns with their aspirations and fosters their potential. During the visit, the delegation met with Ms. Shireen Al-Mafi, Director of the Association, and Ms. Maha Za’atra, Social Worker, to discuss the development of a standardized assessment tool that would help evaluate children’s psychological, social, and educational dimensions. The discussion focused on designing a comprehensive assessment tool that would enable caregivers to accurately identify each child’s individual needs, thereby enhancing the quality of interventions and services provided. Additionally, the meeting addressed the challenges institutions face in implementing standardized assessment tools and emphasized the importance of harmonizing standards across different entities working in the field of alternative care. Establishing unified assessment criteria ensures more effective and precise responses to the needs of children and youth.
This visit is part of a broader vision aimed at strengthening collaboration between relevant institutions and developing innovative assessment methodologies. By adopting scientifically rigorous evaluation standards, these efforts contribute to building a more stable and supportive future for children in care.
