Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy services are provided for children in early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence, with a focus on enhancing the child’s functional performance. This enables the child to independently practice their abilities and skills in a manner appropriate for their age.

The center’s approach with regards to occupational therapy is based on the theory of sensory integration and its impact on the child’s development and interaction with the surrounding environment. Sensory integration involves the brain’s unconscious process of organizing and interpreting information gathered from the body’s various senses (touch, smell, taste, hearing, body balance, and spatial movement). This allows the child to respond to experiences in a meaningful way, giving context to their experiences and forming the foundational basis for learning and social behavior. Effective sensory processing is essential for a range of daily life functions, from concentration and organizational abilities to motor coordination and social skills.
